My First Trip To Cambodia Part 2

As the new forum settings only allows 20 pictures max I had to split it into 2 parts.

KhmerPnomBakaeng.jpg

Hiked up another one called Pnom Bakaeng. There's a really old temple up here and it's a spot to watch the sunset and that is what we did. The biggest problem is that there were thousands of people up here with us so it can get really crowded.

KhmerHongMeasTV.jpg

My dad visited a TV station at the request of my grandma to help find a certain relative. You can probably find us in a youtube clip under title "Khmer news Hang Meas HDTV 30 December 2014- Part" at 10:25 into the clip.

KhmerPalace.jpg

Next we visited the palace in Phnom Penh. Be very careful here as they have a strict dress code and some parts of it restricts the use of cameras. I almost got my camera taken away because I didn't see the sign as crowds of people was blocking it.

KhmerPalace3.jpg

Apparently this is where royalties are buried. There's several more of these around the palace.

KhmerWatThom.jpg

I was surprise to see this earth clock right in front of Wat Thom in Phnom Penh and yes it does work.

KhmerMuseum.jpg

I didn't dare take pictures inside this Khmer National Museum as I was still traumatize from earlier in the palace so outside courtyard was all I could take.

KhmerSihanoukvilleBeach.jpg

Next we spent some time relaxing at the beach in Sihanoukville. The beaches here are overcrowded and because of that it is kind of dirty. I recommend going to Keb since it's cleaner there and less tourists. I do like the seafood here as it is cheap and fresh but do stay away from tap beer as I was messed up really bad drinking it. They probably didn't clean it well.
KhmerSihanoukvilleWaterfall.jpg

There's a nice river with waterfalls a few miles off of Sihanoukville. You can stay in these huts to relax for about 5,000 riel. There's even a phone number there so you can call and order food to be deliver to your hut.

KhmerPnomReam.jpg

Next we visited a temple above Pnom Ream at the recommendation of a restaurant we stop by earlier where my dad drank with the locals and was offering my hand in marriage to their daughters. I was so embarrassed I was speechless.
KhmerPnomReam2.jpg

Apparently my old man was so drunk he slept right there while I went exploring.
KhmerPnomReam3.jpg

My mom had a long conversation with the monk here and I got blessed here again for the 3rd time this trip. I had 3 strings tied on to my right wrist and after 4 months one fell off.
KhmerPnomReam4.jpg

There are sculptures all over this place. Each is a folklore that most of us probably knew from young.

KhmerRiverTown.jpg

KhmerPnomYaeMao.jpg

We visited Pnom Bokor next as I heard the view up there is heavenly.
KhmerDriedWaterFall.jpg

It seems we came at the wrong season as even the local waterfall was dry. The locals said to come here during the rainy season is when it is most beautiful.

Actually my grandma lives in the same state. She's looking for her adopted son which she lost contact since the Khmer Rouge.

What was most frustrating about your travel to srok Khmer? And if you got to taste the fruits, were they unusally sweet? My dad always bragged that the fruits in srok Khmer, even when they're still green, are way sweeter than those in the states.

The fruits are about the same any where. There's no way it's sweeter when it's green it's just not logically possible. Some of the frustrated moments I get are from the corruption of the government, my dad going out of control and drinking like no tomorrow, relatives asking for hand outs, non-relatives calling and asking for hand outs and me being the only young and healthy one have a hard time going places with old people since they can't travel as far as I can.

I'll just have divorce my job one day to travel the world. lol

I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. You have no idea how much I work. I have to make all that money so I can travel. Sorry guys I haven't been paying attention to khmerforums lately. I was in Costa Rica until mid December and in January I was busy training a new team leader at work so I was putting 60 hours work weeks. I'll post up the Costa Rican trip after I'm finish posting the Japan trip when ever that is.
