I am taking how Rei does his uploads, Goupon. The site has MB limitation so I can't put highest quality or better. I rather have faster streaming with no advertisement. Last time I make the files for Sou Ji Sen better but bigger, Rei told me to make it smaller. So I went with that with Demi.
You should blame Rei for being a bad teacher.
Rei's Romantic Heroes quality wasn't good because he rather have smaller files. And because he uses the risky site, his videos doesn't last long. I'm trying to go with his ways but stay away from the risky site.

The dvd I have is the same quality, but if I were to go for best quality it will probably get banned soon from Vimeo since it's a new release and dubbed by SPP. I think the MB for the better quality is about 400 mb each file. The site I'm using has no ad, faster streaming, less risk of banned, and no space limitation, just on the size. Best ways for me to get the whole series out fast and hopefully (finger crossing) not having to deal with videos being deleted for a long while.
Also with other site stealing the videos, I chose not to give them better quality. If they want better quality I want them to buy their own dvd. Put in some money like me.
I'm out of google drive space right now so they just going to take my videos and put it on their google drive. But this time, the quality is not the best for them. I feel like I'm giving them too much luxury if they got better quality out of my work.

That video is the exact videos on the Khmer dubbed. Those dubbing team probably stole the videos from them and then dubbed their voice on it. They always talk about how Khmer steal from them, but they do the same thing. They don't even buy their own dvd. They can't be that cheap?
The videos that SPP dubbed isn't even consistent when you watch the whole thing. Some is sub English, some is sub in Chinese. I help support their dubbing by paying for their dvd.

Quite an interesting subject I've been wanting to talk about again. The logical answer is SPP uses bad sources for their dubbing, or compresses their DVD format very poorly. I think it's the latter, especially after seeing their HD episode of Swordsman on the website, which is much clearer than my DVD quality -- or maybe a combination of bad sources too.
The reason for under 250MB:
When Khmer Access first started, me and several early uploaders including superman did a few days of encoding researches for what would be the best software and format to use. We began testing out through FTP and upload streaming websites like Youtube and Dailymotion. At the time, we found out no matter how big your file is, YT and Daily Motion will heavily compress the video file -- a 30 minute video that was 300MB+ in file size, uploaded to the server will only be streamed under 140MB to viewers. They will only stream at a low bitrate. This has been true for all streaming sites except for FTP uploads. As a result from many researched factors, we decided to use 160-180MB for a 30 minute video clip, which was a size universally accepted by most sites and still within good quality.
250MB for a 35 minutes clip is more than good, as shown in Mist's first episode of the mermaid (he added through FTP uncompressed at 257MB). He uploaded episode 2 through Vid.me, which compressed it to 228MB (Mist said the original size was 244MB) resulting in some quality loss you might've noticed during playback. Good video source, which is typical in Two Doves/HM DVD format.
Honestly, throughout the years of encoding SPP dubbed series I've noticed the quality in video source has never been great and only a small difference in quality between encoding at 250MB and 350MB. But they are the king of dubbing and I will always prefer them.

haha, that explained why Demi uploaded videos seems to be worst compare to the actual decreased size on my hard drive. When I encoded it in that size, it was clearer on my desktop.
With that said, I guess I don't need to worry too much about the mb size later on when encoding new series since it doesn't seem to matter.

The research was years ago Hunnie -- although I do need to get myself updated lol. Although Vid.me drops the quality by 5-8%, it's still a lot better than Dailymotion in everyway heh. The perfect size for download files (not stream) should still be large at 300-400MB+ depending on the size and what source you are encoding. It might not make a significant difference with SPP source but something like Hollywood movies will def make a big difference.

I do wish they would start putting a little effort in their videos quality for the public. Dubbing is a time consuming job and its a waste for them to take it so lightly with copied online videos.

Thank you for sharing with us Hunnie. I watched bits and pieces here and there because I love the character Ah Zhu. Jia Qing did a fine job in the role. She is better as Ah Zhu then Ah Zhi. Although dressed with simple garments (which I don't even consider to be clothing) and a simple hairstyle I really like her and was saddened to see her demise. I wished the serial emphasized her martial arts a bit more though. I know she is not a good or outstanding fighter but I always wished to know how good is her martial arts really (same goes with Ah Bi).
Although she is a maid but her master comes from the Murong family and she was able to seal the acupoints of a few monks from Shaolin as well. But other then that her martial arts ability has not been explored yet again (this happens in every adaption). Although there is one funny thing someone brought up about Ah Zhu. Well Qiao Feng is one of the strongest characters in the story. Ah Zhu suffered one fatal blow that killed her because he pretty much went all out. How on earth did the girl manage to survive a few moments to say goodbye and give off her final speech to him? She must have had some strong hidden internal energy going on because any normal person would die instantly.
The Korean actor who plays as Duan Yu is very annoying and I hate him. He is also ugly and has overacted many scenes. I could be biased because I don't even like the character himself from the novel. The actress who plays as Wang Yu Yan is not pretty enough in my opinion. Now I am just waiting for Gao Yuan Yuan and Alyssa Chia to come out.

Please be kindly to upload more episodes on Demi gods and semi devils 2013. After I watched all episodes uploaded on Khmerave, I feel so inspired and eager to finish this series sooner. Lastly, I would appreciate for your endeavor, and I'm looking forward to your quick reaction.
What do you think of Wallace Chung? I had to agree with on that Korea dude... Comparing to all previous, he's the most annoying.
