I'm sorry to hear about the bad experiences with your in laws. That's why we live far away from mine. But I am actually lucky since my in laws love me. I was diagnosed with a disease that needed surgery. My in law drove 19 hrs to be there for my surgery. They came every morning to the hospital and left every night and kept our son. They helped to take care of me while I was recovering at home. I can't express how much I love and appreciate them. This is also not the first time. They made it to the birth of my son as soon as I told them I was in labor they flew over. They weren't going to miss their grand babies birth.
Every holiday you can expect a box full of gifts from them. It doesn't matter what holiday
..birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It's hard for us to buy gifts for them since they are people who have everything but they are always appreciative.
They are willing to try anything and love my cooking. Of course I've never tried serving pra hok to them but they like fish sauce pretty good.
