As everyone knew, phone get deprecate the next day it leave the store. Some don't even bother getting insurance for the phone 'casue it's expensive. I found and been using 3rd party insurance for some time now and it's totally cheap compare to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or AppleCare. The insurance company doesn't care when and where you bought the phone as long you have receipt. They cover everything except loss. When the claim is approved, they send you a check of today "market price" less any deducible. If needed for repair, they mail you prepaid envelope.
Example, for iPhone 6 16Gb. One year premium is $65 + $5 process fee and deductible is $50 per claim. Claim is unlimited. For theft, they need police report.
For Android phone, you select "cell phone" and select how much you want a coverage for. For a $799 coverage, premium is $79 + $5 and deductible $50
