Vacation Photos

As per Hunnie's request I decided to start a vacation photos post. These photos are from my trip to Maui back in 2012. All of it is shot using a Canon SX110. It's a decent point and shoot camera but since I like to use manual mode it was seriously lacking in some basic functions.

We rented a condo in Lahaina instead of staying in a hotel. It cost us about $480 for 6 days which of course was split between the 3 of us. It have 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room and a laundry room.

1st day we just explore the town. 2nd day we went hiking up Haleakala Mountain on the Pipiwai Trail. I really love the bamboo forest and that weird tree that seems so old. At the end of the hike is Waimoku Falls which is about 400ft high.

And of course I went for a swim.

Later we went ziplining. There were 7 total and the line gets longer than the last. The 7th one was the best. It was an over 800ft line across a 400ft deep ravine.

It was my sister's camera which I advise her not to get. I wasn't that interested in photography until I started to travel often and found out I need a better camera than the standard point and shoot. And yes that is me.

Thanks for sharing Pocket. I am going to Best Buy today to get the Cannon t5i today along with the 135mm lens. It's a heavy camera so I'm hoping I can take mostly indoor pictures and do videos recording for youtube. I seen a girl using it on youtube and was hoping I will get the same quality output like she did.

I don't know much about shooting videos and it's always nice to be able to hear other people's input. I want to find something creative and fun to do on the side.

FYI, I love the waterfall. The trip sounds super exciting. My next road trip is back to Vegas, I'm hoping to be able to take some nice picture with the Cannon t5i if I ended up keeping it. :)

Hoping it's not too complicated to learn. It can be very frustrating to learn anything for the new time around.

The best thing is to read on how to use the camera's many buttons and functions and then the rest is all about practice. I'm not big on flash so most of my pictures are taken without flash now a days.

Thanks pocket, I am cleaning up my room right now so I can start taking some picture with the camera to see how it goes. I didn't get to unboxed it yet. Not sure if it comes with the manual booklet, I think I remember people saying there's none. But I will know soon.

I'm a lazy person, I never enjoy using the flash either. It's tricky in taking nice pictures with flash. I heard that this camera takes nice picture with low lighting, but I'll have to learn all the tricks around taking basic picture first. :)

It's so nice to be able to continuously travel a lot. I will enjoys all your vacation pictures, its a really big treat that you are doing this for the forum. I will try to return the favor back by taking some pictures to share too.

It went above $1,000 buckaroo because I add in the 2 years insurance plan. I also grab the 64gb memory card, I got the best card in the store.
I will buy additional accessories for it elsewhere to keep the cost down. Hopefully the camera is amazing like everyone is rooting it to be.

I hope your 64gb card is a class uh1 class 10 card. Those are the only flash cards that can keep up with cameras with high shutter speed.

Thanks Ms. Red, it's really time consuming to get to that level. Most of them took an average of five years to reach the 1 million subscribers mark. Michelle Phan has lots of help along the way. I'm not sure if I can be persistent that long without getting side track. But I'm really doing it for the fun of it right now. I have lots of software to learn before I can output a quality video like them. I liked the idea of having to push myself to learn more.
